Veraval is a municipality and head quarter of the district of Somnath of Gujarat. The city was founded in the 13th or 14th century by a Rajput named Rao Veravalji Vadher(Rathore). Veraval used to be the fortified port town of Junagadh’s Royal family and a part of the Junagadh kingdom until it was unified with India in the year 1953.
It is a sacred attraction located on the Prabhas Veraval highway. Once a poacher named jara shot Lord Krishna after he misunderstood the foot of the Lord to that of a deer as the Lord was sitting on a deerskin. But it is said that the Lord pardoned jara and blessed him. The beautiful temple also houses a peepal tree within its complex.
The Gita Mandir is a beautiful temple located on the outlying areas of Mathura.This holy temple portrays the Bhagwad Gita.The main deity of the temple is Lord Krishna who has the idols of Lord Lakshmi Narayana and Sita Rama on his left and right respectively.
The Somnath Temple is a famous religious attraction that was made in honor of Lord Shiva in the 19th century. The temple erected after the keen request of a devotee of the Lord. The Shivaling here is believed to be originated on its own. The temple was reconstructed using decorative glass in between the year 1972-73.
It is the place from where the elder brother of Lord Krishna, Balaramji went on a journey to his nijdham-patal. Located close to Gita Mandir temple, the gufa is a famous attracation located in veraval.
It is one of the most revered temples of the state. It is said that the prayers said here with a true heart surely bears fruit. The temple was reconstructed under the reign of Ahilyabai Holka, a famous Maratha warrior & saint queen who also retored other temples that were destroyed by the muslim looters.
The famous temple is located on the banks of the holy river Triveni. It is the spot where, Bhagwan Parshuram was relieved by Bhagwan Somnath after his penance for the curse of the Kshatriya killings. Divine leela Parshuram is perpetrated here by a beautiful Parshuram Temple and two ancient kunds.

By Rail : The Veraval Railway station is well connected to Rajkot, Bhopal, , Ahmadabad, Vadodara, Ujjain, Mumbai, Pune, Jabalpur and Trivandrum.
By Road : Numerous state run buses connect Veraval to various nerby cities and towns in Gujarat.
